Alexis ”le trotteur” Lapointe

Alex Lapointe is one of the legendary figures in Quebec folk lore. (June 4, 1860 – Jan. 12, 1924) He was an eccentric who was persuaded that he was a stallion born in human form. One of his favourite exploits was racing against horses. It is said that he never lost. This wonderful detailed carving shows one such race run as a young man probably in the late 1880’s. Michel Fortin has captured a wonderful moment in Quebec/Canadian folk lore.
